20th Goshinkan Taikai : Video
Every year, the Goshinkan Taikai takes place in Tokyo. This tournament is an opportunity for all of Tabuchi Sensei's students to challenge each other. It is also an open, held in high esteem by the Tokyo chanbarakas, thanks to its reliance on the Goshinkan's style of refereeing. The tournament is comprised of 4 main categories (Kodachi, Morote, Nito, Emonojiu) and 4 secondary categories (Choken Free, Tate, Tanto, Nuki-Uchi). Afterwards, the winners of each category fight each other in order to designate the Goshinkan's Grand Champion. This year, the Grand Champion title goes to Nagashima Sensei (Goshinkan Azabu), and that of Vice Grand Champion to Olivier Casta (Goshinkan Paris).
The chanbara.fr team has obtained video footage of this tournament's 20th edition.
The Sports Chanbara tournament was followed by a Iaido competition, which was won by Christophe Cottineau (Goshinkan Nouméa).
Finally, this year, the event had a particuliar flavour, since the Goshinkan was celebrating its 20th birthday, while its founder was celebrating his 60th.
